PROTEC replacement pads are an essential component of the PROTEC oral protection system. These pads are designed to be easily interchangeable, ensuring continuous comfort and effectiveness. Made from high-quality biocompatible materials, they provide an additional layer of protection between the bit and your horse’s mouth, thereby preventing irritation and discomfort.
The pads last approximately 4 to 6 weeks per set. In case of visible wear, particularly where the bit acts, it is advisable to change them.
We draw your attention to the fact that certain doping medications or specific substances may adhere to the silicone. The pads can be a vector for contamination (food residues, saliva, or certain transmissible diseases): changing the pads between each horse ensures safe and hygienic use.

We design interchangeable pads to extend the lifespan of your PROTEC: simply replace worn patches, while the frame remains usable for a long time.
Who is it for?
Soft pads are very flexible and will allow more bit pressure to pass through. We generally recommend starting with medium pads. Soft pads can be tested to fine-tune comfort according to your horse's specific sensitivity.
Easy to replace
The PROTEC system is easy to assemble thanks to pads marked L (Left) / R (Right). They must be mounted on the correct side, screwed in all the way, ensuring that the lugs under the frame's arms fit correctly into the pad's holes. Correct installation ensures stability, safety, and optimal comfort.
Which to choose: medium or soft pads?
→ The Medium pads are the most versatile in the PROTEC range. Their more rigid structure helps to limit the transmission of bit pressure, while offering an ideal balance between flexibility and support. They are generally the best starting point, especially for sensitive horses or those with marked mouth reactivity.
→ Soft pads, which are more flexible, allow more pressure to pass through and are often preferred for a softer, more precise feel. They enable fine-tuning of comfort according to each horse’s individual sensitivity.
Care and Precautions
To ensure optimal hygiene and preserve your PROTEC’s performance, it is advisable to clean the PROTEC after each use and allow it to dry before storing it.
We recommend replacing the pads approximately every 4 to 6 weeks, depending on frequency of use. The pads are easily changed for constant comfort and safety. In case of visible wear, particularly where the bit acts, it is advisable to change them.
