About Protec

The concept

The background of Protec

Sébastien Tirtey, the inventor of Protec, who is also a renowned dentist, has been dedicated to enhancing the well-being and performance of sport horses for over 20 years. Combining his passion for equine health and his deep understanding of dental care, he has worked with riders across various disciplines, including some of the world’s top equestrians.

Four years ago, Sébastien set out to design a product that would address the
various issues he encountered in his practice—specifically to protect the sensitive gums of horses, an area that can be easily irritated, regardless of the discipline, riding level, or bit used as this will largely depend on the sensitivity of the horse.

The idea of Protec was born.

Over the course of four years, the first three were dedicated to developing more than 50 prototypes, followed by an additional year of testing with over 15 top-level riders before launching Protec into the market.

The product

Numerous prototypes were developed to achieve the final version of our product.

USE
The protection is positioned exactly where the bit operates. The initial contact is therefore much softer. However, this does not alter or change the action of the bit, because the more pressure is exerted on the bit, the more pressure the bit itself exerts on the protective device. The horse feels this pressure through the Protec without feeling any pain. Our Protec device is designed not to impede the natural movement of the tongue.

COMPONENT
Protec is made of latex skin and food-grade, bio-compatible rubber. These materials are 100% safe for horses
